The reaction of diethylanilidophosphite with 2-diethylaminomethyl-6-methylphenol gives 2-oxo-2-ethoxy-7-methyl-1-oxa-2-phosphaindan (I), 2-oxo-2-anilido-7-methyl-1-oxa-2-phosphaindan (II), and 2-oxo-2-(2′-methyl-6′-diethylaminomethyl)phenoxy-7-methyl-1-oxa-2-phosphaindan (III).
The reaction of 2-diethylaminomethyl-6-methylphenol with 2-oxo-2-diethylamido-7-methyl-1-oxa-2-phosphaindan gives 2-oxo-2-(2′-methyl-6′-diethylaminomethyl)phenoxy-7-methyl-1-oxa-2-phosphaindan, which is converted by heat to 3′,9″-dimethyl-2,3,5,6-dibenzo-7a-oxo-1,7-dioxa-7a-phosphatetrahydroindan.
