The reactivity of the multiple bond towards methyl radicals decreases in the order (CH3)3SiCH=CH2 > (CH3)3CCH=CH2 > (CH3)3GeCH=CH2.
Removal of a hydrogen atom from the “allyl ” position assumes considerable importance for α- and β-methyl-substituted vinylgermanes.
