By means of an electrodynamical analysis we reveal the influence of the finite conductivity of the n+ substrate on the dispersion of electromagnetic waves in an active strip transmission line (ASTL) based on the distributed thin film semiconductor structure metal-n-n+. We demonstrate a reduction of the linear amplification and the reduction of the band of amplified frequencies of the ASTL as a result of losses in the n+ layer in the centimeter and millimeter ranges.
