Controlling temperatures in free convection for a high-viscosity fluid

Abstract

The self-similarity problem with consideration of the relationship between viscosity and temperature in the range of Prandtl numbers 1–10 4 has been solved for laminar free-convective flow of a viscous fluid about an isothermal vertical plate. We have calculated the controlling temperatures for local heat transfer, as well as the magnitudes and positions for the maximum of longitudinal velocity, the force of friction, and the thickness of the boundary layer.
