Syntheses based on lithium derivatives of p-carborane

Conclusions

  1. 1.

    Starting from lithium-p-carboranes, the C-iodo-, mercapto-, benzoyl-, methylmercury-, ni-troso-, and amino-derivatives of p-carborane were obtained, p-Carboranesulfinic acid was also produced.

  2. 2.

    Iodine atoms in C-iodo-p-carborane have a “positive” character.

  3. 3.

    The reactivity of lithium-p-carborane is analogous to that of lithium-m-carborane.
