The electronic spectra of oligoarylenes

  • 16 Accesses

Conclusions

  1. 1.

The electronic spectra of oligoarylenes based on naphthalene and anthracene in the region of 250–1050 nm were investigated.

  2. 2.

The nature of the electronic absorption spectra in the near-UV region is evidence of a conservation of the basic aromatic structure characteristic of the initial monomers.

  3. 3.

The value of the bathochromic shift of the basic maxima, relative to the spectra of the initial monomers, already reaches the limiting value on the first members of the oligomeric series, which agrees with the concepts of effective conjugation in polyconjugated systems.

  4. 4.

The absorption intensity in the long-wave region (above 400 nm) is correlated with the concentration of paramagnetic centers in oligoarylenes.
