Analysis of mixtures of C1-C6 aliphatic alcohols with water by gas-liquid chromatography

  1. 1.

    A new solid carrier has been proposed for gas-liquid chromatography of polar compounds.

  2. 2.

    It has been shown that the use of this carrier in combination with polyethylene glycol adipate (PEGA) as the stationary liquid phase makes it possible to analyze directly mixtures of C1-C6 alcohols with water, requiring a maximum of 30 min for the analysis.

  3. 3.

    This method has been applied in determining the composition of the alcohols present in the reaction water obtained in the synthesis of alcohols from CO and H2. It has been found that the water contains primarily normal-structure alcohols from C1 to C6.
