Refracto metric method of determining normal paraffinic hydrocarbons in transformer oils

Conclusions

  1. 1.

    A method of refractometric determination of normal paraffins in transformer oil is proposed which is more accurate (0.5 abs. %) than the existing gravimetric carbamide method (2 abs. %).

     
  2. 2.

    The method is recommended for factory control of the content of normal paraffins in transformer oils, and also in diesel fuels during the operation of carbamide-deparaffinization units.

     
  3. 3.

    The method requires construction of calibration graphs for different kinds of raw materials in the case when the refractive indices of the complexing products at 45° do not fall into the region of 1.4330-1.4350.
