Summary

The steroid antibiotic fusidic acid was identified from six strains of dermatophytes and fromCalcarisporium antibioticum, a newly described species of the imperfect fungi. Antibiotic formation by dermatophytes and production of fusidic acid by fungi are discussed.

Zusammenfassung

Das Steroidantibioticum Fusidinsäure wurde in Kulturen von sechs Dermatophyten und vonCalcarisporium antibioticum, einer neubeschriebenen Art der Deuteromycetes, nachgewiesen. Das Vorkommen von Antibiotica bei Dermatophyten und das Spektrum der Fusidinsäure bildenden Pilze werden erörtert.
