Serogenetical study of Avar age populations

Summary

Avar age skeleton remains from the Szolnok Rákóczifalva-Kastélydomb cemetery excavations were examined with the fluorescent antibody method for ABO blood groups. The results were statistically compared with those of previously studied Avar age cemeteries, and were found to be significantly similar to the Alattyán cemetery's second (II) chronological group. The similarities of the serogenetical profiles indicate a close ethnical interrelation of the respective Avar populations, when the geographical closeness, and the similarities in their grave furniture are also considered.

Zusammenjassung

Die ABO-Blutgruppen der Skeletreste vom Friedhof Szolnok Rákóczifalva-Kastélydomb aus der Awarenzeit wurden mit Hilfe der Fluorescenz-Antikörper-Methode untersucht. Die Resultate der Untersuchungen wurden mit den entsprechenden Daten ähnlicher awarischer Friedhöfe verglichen. Auf Grund der mathematischen Analyse wurde festgestellt, daß der awarische Teil des Friedhofs Szolnok Rákóczifalva-Kastélydomb eine bedeutende serogenetische Ähnlichkeit mit der Population der chronologischen Gruppe Alattyán II aufweist. Die Ergebnisse dieser Untersuchungen werden auch durch den Typ der Gräber und die geographische Lage beider Friedhöfe bestätigt.
