Identification of chromosome anomalies in the blastic phase of chronic myelocytic leukemia (CML) by Giemsa- and quinacrine-banding techniques

Summary

On the basis of chromosomal-banding patterns, karyotypic analysis in 3 cases of chronic myelocytic leukemia (CML) in the blastic phase was performed. The banding pattern was obtained by atebrin staining and the trypsin-saline-Giemsa method. The 3 cases had several characteristics in common: 1. a translocation 9q+; 22q-; 2. an additional chromosome 22q-; 3. an additional chromosome 19, and 4. C-sized marker chromosomes of different morphology and unidentifiable origin.

Zusammenfassung

Basierend auf Chromosomen-Bandenmustern wurden 3 Fälle von chronisch myeloischer Leukämie (CML) in Blastenphase karyotypisch analysiert. Die Bandenmuster wurden durch Atebrinfärbung und die Trypsin-Kochsalz-Giemsa-Methode dargestellt. Den 3 Fällen waren folgende Befunde gemeinsam: 1. eine Translokation 9q+;22q-; 2. ein zusätzliches Chromosom 22q-; 3. ein zusätzliches Chromosom 19 und 4. Marker-Chromosomen von C-Größe, die morphologisch unterschiedlich waren und deren Herkunft nicht geklärt werden konnte.
