Über den Einfluß des Thyroxins und des Hungerns auf die Aktivität der Monoaminoxydase und Dopadecarboxylase der Leber

Summary

  1. 1.

    In liver extracts of rabbits, guinea pigs and rats the activity of mono-aminooxydase was increased or not significantly altered by treating the animals with thyroxine resp. trijod-thyronine or by starving them. The bodyweight and the weight of the liver was diminished to 20–30%. These results do not support the view that in hyperthyreosis the hyperactivity of the sympathetic nervous system or of the sympathetic transmitters respectively is caused by an inhibition of aminooxydase.

  2. 2.

    The activity of l-dopadecarboxylase in liver extracts of thyroxine-treated or starved animals was significantly decreased. In liver extracts of starved animals by addition of pyridoxalphosphate — the codecarboxylase — it was possible to restore the activity to the level of the controls which is not true for the liver extracts of the thyroxine-treated animals.
