Ultradrawing of “springy” polypropylene films

Summary

It is demonstrated that in the process of ultradrawing of semicrystalline polypropylene the morphology of the initial material plays major role. Extremely high draw ratios are obtained (λmax≈50) when drawing “hard elastic” polypropylene films perpendicular to their initial molecular orientation. This behaviour is explained by the molecular processes of plastic deformation.
