Introduction

Issues regarding the ethics, politics, security, and sovereignty of food and agriculture remain a relatively peripheral focus in criminology. However, a growing body of scholarship has been developing within criminology which focuses on food and agricultural issues and their links to criminality, deviance, and harm. Reece Walters provides valuable contributions to this area on the topic of genetically modified (GM) food; his book Eco Crime and Genetically Modified Food (2010) and his numerous publications offer important connections between GM food and issues like political corruption, corporate monopolies, and environmental harm.
