The breakdown of glycogen to glucose

Low blood glucose concentrations

Insulin-resistance :

When the body has a reduced response to a given amount of insulin

Introduction

The use or storage of glucose by the numerous cells, tissues, and organs of the human body is known as glucose metabolism. Glucose is the predominant source of energy for the body. However, it is important for the body to maintain blood glucose at optimal concentrations in order for the body to function properly. The process of using glucose as an energy source is known as glycolysis.

Blood Glucose Regulation

An important organ responsible for regulating glucose metabolism is the pancreas. The pancreas is involved in the secretion of enzymes responsible for the digestion of food and the release of hormones involved in the regulation of blood glucose levels.
