Definition

Psychosis-proneness traits are thought to putatively put individuals at risk of developing a psychotic disorder. Several historical descriptive and theoretical accounts have described the “schizotype” or “schizotypal” personality and so the field has sometimes been termed “schizotypy.” However, the range of traits has expanded beyond what might pertain to schizophrenia.

Introduction

The O-LIFE was developed by Oliver Mason and Gordon Claridge (2006; Mason et al. 1995) based on work using a large dataset of a large number of existing personality scales measuring proneness to psychosis. The initial alpha coefficients for the four scales were 0.89, 0.87, 0.82, and 0.77. The performance and structure of the original inventory has subsequently been explored using reliability analysis (Burch et al. 1998), confirmatory factor analysis (Mason 1995), cluster analysis (Loughland and Williams 1997), as well as in a wide range of experimental...
