Mark Baldwin is a social-personality psychologist and professor at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. His research examines the cognitive representation of self and patterns of social relatedness.
Early Life and Educational Background
Baldwin was born on October 23, 1957, in Toronto, Canada. He completed his B.A. in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Toronto in 1979, conducting his Honours thesis with Shelly Chaiken. He then studied social-personality psychology at the University of Waterloo, Canada, earning his M.A. in 1982 and his Ph.D. in 1984 both under the direction of John Holmes.
Professional Career
Baldwin secured a postdoctoral fellowship from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, which supported him to work with Nancy Cantor at the University of Michigan (1984–1985) and then Brian Shaw at the Clarke Institute of Psychiatry (1985–1986).
