Thomaes was born on September 16, 1977, in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands. He earned his B.A. (2000), M.A. (2002), and Ph.D. (2007) in Developmental Psychology from the VU University Amsterdam.
Professional Career
Thomaes has worked at Utrecht University (Developmental Psychology Program) since 2007 and also at the University of Southampton (Centre for Research on Self and Identity) since 2013. His publications have appeared in outlets such as Child Development, Developmental Psychology, Journal of Experimental Psychology: General, Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, and Psychological Science. He has also published in handbooks and encyclopedia such as Wiley’s Developmental Psychopathology.
