The Journal of the Astronautical Sciences - Call for papers: "Astrodynamics, Estimation, and Control for Cislunar Operations"

The Journal of Astronautical Sciences (JAS) is planning to publish a topical collection of original research contributions on "Astrodynamics, Estimation, and Control for Cislunar Operations"

There is significant recent interest toward utilization of cislunar orbit regimes for space mission design. This dynamic environment is rich due to space trajectories generated under gravitational fields for three or more bodies with extreme sensitivity to initial conditions and other perturbation sources.  For this JAS topical collection (this opens in a new tab), we invite authors to submit high-quality original contributions that address the many aspects of navigation, guidance, and control pertaining to cislunar space operations, including one or more of the following topics:

  • Astrodynamics and coordinate representations for motion characterization
  • Perturbation modeling
  • Transfer trajectories to and from cislunar space
  • Autonomous onboard inertial and relative navigation
  • Rapid initial orbit determination (ground-based and space-based)
  • Reachability sets
  • Control subject to uncertainty

Deadline

The Topical Collection is open for submissions until February 15, 2023.  All papers will be reviewed consistent with the rigorous peer-evaluation standards for the journal.  Submissions found to be out of scope for this collection can still be considered for review and publication under a regular issue of the journal.

Submission

Manuscripts should be submitted via the link on the journal homepage: https://www.springer.com/journal/40295 (this opens in a new tab) (please select the respective collection title).
