Conclusions

It has been established that HCl is capable of H-bond formation with carbonyl π-complexes of transition metals via the oxygen of the carbonyl group in the presence of a metal atom in liquid xenon at low temperatures.

The protonation of carbonyl complexes of transition metals via the metal atom may occur through a stage of hydrogen bond formation via the oxygen atom of the CO group.
