Approximation and Online Algorithms (WAOA 2023)
This collection of Theory of Computing Systems is devoted to selected extended abstracts that were presented at the 21st Workshop on Approximation and Online Algorithms (WAOA 2023), which took place in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, from September 7th to September 8th, 2023. Out of 43 submitted papers, 16 were accepted for presentation at the workshop. The program committee invited the authors of the four best papers to write expanded and revised versions of their papers and to submit them to the special issue. Each one of these papers underwent a rigorous reviewing process, in accordance with the high standards of this journal.

Andreas Wiese
Andreas Wiese studied mathematics at the TU Berlin where he also did his PhD in mathematics. He was a postdoc at the "La Sapienza" University in Rome and at the MPI for Informatics in Saarbrücken. He has also been a professor at the Universidad de Chile in Santiago and at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Finally, Andreas Wiese joined the Technical University of Munich in 2022. andreas.wiese@tum.de

Jarosław Byrka
Jarosław Byrka studied Computer Science at the University of Wrocław, PhD student at CWI Amsterdam and TU Eindhoven, then Postdoc at EPFL Lausanne. Currently professor back in CS Institute, University of Wrocław; Chair of the Combinatorial Optimization Group. jby@cs.uni.wroc.pl
