Schouderproblematiek bij borstkankerpatiënten en de rol daarvan in de kankerrevalidatie

Samenvatting

Omdat een groot aantal patiënten het ontwikkelen van een borstkanker overleeft, wordt de levenskwaliteit na de behandeling van borstkanker steeds belangrijker. In de wetenschappelijke literatuur is veel informatie te vinden over de preventie en behandeling van lymfoedeem na de okseluitruiming bij borstkanker, maar niet over de preventie en behandeling van de daarbij optredende schouderklachten. Dit hoofdstuk geeft eerst een overzicht van de prevalentie van de beperkte schoudermobiliteit, pijn in de schouder en de arm, en een beperkte schouderfunctie na de okseluitruiming bij borstkanker. Daarna wordt de pathofysiologie van deze schouderklachten besproken, en ten slotte de preventie en behandeling ervan.
