Multiple sclerose (ms) is een aandoening van de witte stof (myeline) van de hersenen, leidend tot tijdelijke en vaak ook blijvende neurologische uitvalsverschijnselen. De ziekte ontstaat op meerdere (multiple) plaatsen en leidt tot littekenvorming (sclerosering).
