Detectie en preventie van sportletsels bij jongeren

Samenvatting

In dit hoofdstuk wordt beschreven hoe de preventie van sportletsels bij jongeren vorm kan worden gegeven. Hiervoor wordt uitgegaan van de epidemiologische kennis over prevalentie en incidentie, en van de intrinsieke en extrinsieke risicofactoren van sportletsels. Voorbeelden worden aangehaald uit het voetbal en het basketbal. Er wordt besproken hoe een preventiestrategie kan worden uitgewerkt, rekening houdend met het primaire, secundaire of tertiaire niveau van de preventie en informatie uit de preventieve screening. Bijkomend wordt toegelicht wie verantwoordelijk is voor het nemen van preventieve maatregelen, afhankelijk van de risicofactoren die men met die preventieve maatregelen wenst aan te pakken.
