Abstract

In recent years, novel approaches and architectures to support Data Warehouse integration (like the P2P Data Warehouse [1], also called Business Intelligence Network, or BIN) have been proposed. Although the concept has been defined from a theoretical point of view, until now no automatic or semi-automatic method that allows the integration of multidimensional information coming from heterogeneous Data Warehouses has been proposed. This paper proposes a method capable of exploiting dimension mappings between two or more multidimensional schemas in order to import and integrate heterogeneous DW instances subsets. The proposed method is based on a semi-automatic mapping generation technique previously developed, and on the dimension-chase algorithm defined in literature for integration purposes.
