Zusammenfassung
Epidemiologische Untersuchungen unter Zugrundelegung von ICD-10 oder DSM-IV ergeben regelmäßig, dass die deutliche Mehrzahl der Patientinnen, die um eine Behandlung nachsuchen, bei konsequenter Anwendung der diagnostischen Kriterien als atypische oder als nicht näher bezeichnete Essstörung (NNB Essstörung, Eating Disorders not Otherwise Specified, EDNOS) klassifiziert werden müssen (Fairburn et al. 2007). Demgegenüber wird diese Gruppe in der Forschung und in der Behandlung eher vernachlässigt. Unser Wissen über atypische bzw. nicht näher bezeichnete Essstörungen ist daher begrenzt.
