In diesem Kapitel wird die sonographische Diagnostik der Erkrankungen von Strukturen beschrieben, die dem Retroperitoneum, jedoch nicht direkt den Nieren zuzuordnen sind. Hierzu zählen pathologische Befunde der großen Gefäße, des retroperitonealen Bindegewebes, der retroperitonealen Lymphknoten sowie das typische Erscheinungsbild retroperitonealer Hämatome und Abszesse.
