Abstract

On a base of a new class of criteria of image processing quality, the local criteria, a unified approach to treatment and design of local adaptive linear and non-linear rank filters for image restoration and enhancement is suggested and the corresponding examples are briefly outlined. It is shown also that many of the local adaptive filters known from the literature can be regarded as special cases of the filters generated with this approach.
