Résumé
L’aphasie est une catastrophe psychologique et fonctionnelle pour le patient et toute sa famille. Pour évaluer les incapacités de communication dans la vie quotidienne qui en résultent, les cliniciens francophones disposent désormais de deux instruments d’évaluation complémentaires, modernes, et bien validés, l’échelle de communication verbale de Bordeaux et le test lillois de communication. En utilisant l’échelle de Bordeaux chez 127 personnes aphasiques, les incapacités de communication les plus fréquemment rencontrées concernaient l’écriture (79 %) et la lecture (68 %) de lettres et de documents administratifs, la conversation sur des sujets complexes (59 %), l’usage des chèques et des cartes de crédit (57 %), le téléphone à des inconnus ou des personnes non familières (54 %), la prise de parole en premier avec des personnes inconnues ou non familières (50 %). Ces incapacités devraient représenter les objectifs prioritaires de toute rééducation orthophonique d’aphasie.
